Parent's Program
Behind every great college man is a great family
It is not only the brothers of Phi Delta Theta that contribute to the success of this fraternity. Over the years we have been fortunate to have the support of our parents and family members. As a brotherhood, we are proud of our strong commitment to excellence and continued success here at the University of Virginia, but without the support of our Parents Club, our chapter would not be where it is today.
The Parents Club has been a part of Phi Delta Theta since its early days at the University. It was not uncommon for 'house mothers' to help maintain the chapter house and even prepare meals for the brotherhood. Also, fathers skilled in certain professions would volunteer to keep up the house and grounds. These traditions remain today. Several times a year brothers are treated to a meal by the mothers. Also, whenever the fraternity takes on a house project or event, families chip in however they can. Most recently, the Parents Club funded the renovation of the chapter house's kitchen and bought curtains for the downstairs windows.
The Parents Club is headed by a parent of an undergraduate brother and that parent works with the Executive officers of the brotherhood to determine how the resources of the club can best be used. The club also helps coordinate volunteer work, acts as the official connection between families and the brotherhood, and sends out a bi-annual newsletter to the parents with updates and information concerning the fraternity.
The Virginia Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta is honored to have such loving families who offer their unconditional support. We would like to thank you for helping us reach our goals year after year, and we look forward to the same care and support from future families.
If you would like to contact the Phi Delta Theta Parents Club, please get in touch with current president Katherine Taylor (Gifford's mom).
